Meet Information: Lake Erie Long Course Championships

The Lake Erie Long Course Championships will be held on July 26th-28th at SPIRE Aquatic Center in Geneva, OH. There are time standard requirements for this meet - swimmers must have a 'B' time or better for a 50 meter race, a 'BB' time for a 100, and an 'A' time for a 200 (see chart provided below). The Saturday and Sunday morning session will be for 13 & Over swimmers while the afternoon session is for 12 & Under swimmers. The Friday evening session is for all ages.

The due date for entries is Sunday July 7th by midnight. Please send your entries to neonswimming@gmail.com.

Please  provide the name(s) of your swimmer(s) in the e-mail, in addition to which day(s) you would like them entered in and how many events you would like them entered in (up to 3 events per day).

STARTING TIMES:

  FRIDAY: Warm-ups will be from 4:45 – 5:30 p.m. with the meet starting at 5:35 p.m.

 SATURDAY & SUNDAY AM: Warm-ups will be from 8:00 – 8:45 a.m. with the meet
                                    starting at 8:50 a.m.

  SATURDAY & SUNDAY PM: Warm-ups will begin 15 minutes after the conclusion of the morning session.  There will be a 45-minute warm-up.  Estimated afternoon start times will be posted on www.lakeerieswimming.com  by July 24, 2013.

ENTRY FEES:  Individual events $5.00; Relays: $8.00; plus a $2.00 per swimmer LESI surcharge. There is also a $3.00 team charge.

ENTRY LIMITATIONS:  Swimmers may enter as many events as they qualify for, but can only swim in 3 individual events/day exclusive of relays (no refunds will be given for events scratched).  Swimmers may swim one (1) time trial event per day, subject to the three-event limit above.  Swimmer can swim up to two relays per day.

DECK ENTRIES:  Deck entries will be accepted only on a space available basis up to 35 minutes before the start of each session, at a cost of $10.00 per individual event and $16.00 per relay, and will be seeded at NT. Swimmers must have a qualifying time to deck enter the event.  If the swimmer is closed out of an event, he or she will receive a refund.  Deck entry swimmers new to the meet will be charged $2.00 LESI surcharge and must provide proof of USA Swimming registration.

ELGIBILITY:  Swimmers must be current athlete members of Lake Erie Swimming, and have met the time standard requirements. 

QUALIFYING TIMES:  Please see the chart for qualifying times.  Swimmers must be equal to or faster than the listed qualifying times.  Enter at either long course meters (L) times, short course meters (S), or short course yards (Y).  Converted times may not be used.  Meet management will convert non-conforming times. Swimmers should enter an event only if they have achieved the listed time standard for that event.  Teams of swimmers who fail to achieve the qualifying time at the meet will receive a notice of those times that cannot be verified in the SWIMS database.  Teams shall submit proof of time or a fine of $10.00 for each swim listed in the notice.

SEEDING & CHECK IN: All events are deck-seeded according to current USA Swimming Rules.  All swimmers must check in at least 30 minutes prior to the start of their session for all their events.  Check in sheets will be posted on the pool deck. Heat and lane assignments will be posted on deck.  Swimmers will be responsible for reporting to the starting blocks on time.  There will be NO clerk of course.


SCORING:  1st – 10th
   INDIVIDUAL: 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1
               RELAYS:        20-18-16-14-12-10-8-6-4-2


ADMISSION:  $5.00 for preliminary competition and $1.00 for finals competition.  Psych sheets for preliminary competition are $2.00 each.  Heat sheets for finals will be $1.00 each.  Please note that at the conclusion of afternoon preliminary competition, spectators must clear the spectator area of the pool.

PARKING: Free. There will be a designated area for parking adjacent to the Aquatic and Fitness building.  Swimmer drop-off is on the south entrance of the Aquatic Center, denoted by signage.  Please do not park in front of the building unless you have a handicapped designation sticker for that reserved space; handicap parking is located next to the swimmer drop-off entrance.   

CAMERA ZONES: Meet Management shall designate and inform the public of “Camera Zones” at each swim meet where both still and video photography of a race or competitor may be taken. Acceptable Camera Zones may include, but are not limited to the side courses of a pool, team gathering areas, concession areas, the turn-end of the competition course when not in use as a start-end, etc. Meet Management shall also designate “No Camera Zones.” Under NO circumstances will Camera Zones include locker rooms, rest rooms, any dressing areas, or the area immediately behind the starting blocks at either end of the racing course(s) while they are in use for race starts during competition and warm-up. Those failing to abide by this rule may be removed from the venue.  Furthermore, the Meet Referee and the Meet Directors may limit, at their discretion, still or video photography within the camera zone, if in the opinion of the Meet Referee and/or the Meet Directors the photography is disruptive to the meet or is otherwise not in the best interest of the athletes in consideration of the safe sport objectives.

Even in the designated Camera Zones, spectators are reminded that there is no flash photography permitted at the start of the race, from the time that the athletes are given the instruction to step up on the blocks until the race has been started. 

Use of audio or visual recording, including a cell phone camera, is not allowed in changing areas, restrooms or locker rooms, and is limited to only those areas marked as designated camera zones.


NOTE:  Only athletes entered in the meet, working coaches, officials, and meet workers are allowed on deck.  Other non-participants are expected to remain in the spectator area.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: All clubs are required to provide workers for the district championships.  Each club’s cooperation in this regard is critical in making this meet a success.  Please fulfill your obligation by assigning parents or other responsible adults (not age group swimmers) from your club to work at this meet.

Should a club fail to fulfill its work responsibilities, particularly in timing; the meet will be unnecessarily delayed.  A fine will be assessed to any club not completing their assignments at this meet.  THE FINE IS AS FOLLOWS:  $20.00 FOR EACH POST NOT FILLED BY THE CLUB ASSIGNED.  For example, if a club is assigned two lanes of timers for a session and only one worker appears, that club will be fined $60.00 (3 absent timers).
